01Our Story

“What started in the lab became something more human.”

Andrew Shin

— Andrew Shin, Founder

NeuroBridge grew out of a simple observation: research into the brain matters most when it returns to the people it’s meant to serve. We translate that belief into face-to-face programs across California.

02Mission

Reduce isolation. Build real connection.

NeuroBridge is a youth-led neuroscience service initiative based in the San Francisco Bay Area. We connect neurodivergent youth and seniors through structured, shared experiences that stimulate cognitive activity and social connection.

03The Problem

Two groups with the same problem: isolation.

Neurodivergent Youth
1 in 31

Children are affected by autism. (CDC, 2022)

  • Difficulty interpreting social cues and conversation
  • Preference for predictable, structured environments
  • Sensory sensitivities to noise, touch, and crowds
  • A wide spectrum of needs — no single approach works
Senior Adults
1 in 4

Adults aged 65+ experience social isolation. (NIH, 2020)

  • Linked to higher rates of depression and heart disease
  • Aging often dismantles built-in social structures
  • Retirement and mobility reduce daily human contact
04Key Insight

Each group naturally provides
what the other needs.

Neurodivergent Children
  • Need structured interactions
  • Need patience
  • Struggle with social cues
Low-pressure environment
Organic interactions
Mutual benefit
Senior Adults
  • Need companionship
  • Seek purpose & meaningful roles
  • Have patience and life experience

06Impact Evaluation

We measure what matters: engagement and well-being.

Hypothesis

Structured intergenerational interaction increases social engagement in neurodivergent children and reduces loneliness in seniors.

Measurement
  • Surveys — children for engagement, seniors for well-being
  • Interaction frequency
  • Eye contact
  • Comfort level
07Vision

Beyond a single program.

NeuroBridge aims to grow beyond individual sessions into a research-backed model for intergenerational connection.

01
Step 1

Expand into multiple communities

02
Step 2

Build a replicable program framework

03
Step 3

Contribute to research on social connection and neurological disorders
